Setting the scene for my Birthday celebrations. For me the most important part of any event is a beautifully curated tablescape. I love spending days/weeks/months to ponder over the design, taking every intricate detail into consideration, planning the colour scheme and sourcing quirky objects. On January 29th we hosted 14 for Birthday celebrations. We extended our wonderful Ikea Laneberg table (it's so versatile - I love it) which fit snuggly in the centre of our Sitting Room surrounded by an assortment on random chairs. The candy stripe table cloth is from H & M, as the focal point this set the mood - eclectic and playful.
Doing Goods 'Misty Tree Candle Stick's' cast in brass and handmade in India, unique, beautiful and the perfect vessel to hold fun tapered candles. The tapered candles give the table the height it needs to elevate it. There is the most magical store in my home town, Petworth in West Sussex. Tallulah Fox on Lombard Street is a treasure trove of original glassware, textiles, inspired objects and antiques. My collection of their colourful hand blown stem glasses grows bigger by the day and i'm always proud to sit them in pride of place on the table.
I chose to use vintage gilt edge plates that were part of a set I inherited from my late Grandmother - she was always a wonderful host and I know she would have been proud of the arrangement. I also used her napkins - pink, silk and oh so perfectly kitsch with embroidered pansy details - adding yet another dimension to this eclectic mix.
Fresh blooms in a mix of emerald vases and hand written name place cards from Papier in a sweet floral heart design added the finishing touches.
